General information about the ingredients used in this supplement product:
(This is NOT product specific and is only listed as educational material)
Choline is a chemical comparable to the B-vitamins, and is often clubbed with them, although it is until now not an official B-vitamin. Inositol is considered un-officially a component of the Vitamin-B complex family. Choline and inositol are both water soluble chemicals found commonly in animal tissues and seeds of plants. Both compounds are water soluble vitamins, and are referred to as quasi-vitamins. Although choline and inositol are different chemical structures they are discussed together because they are integral components of phospholipids, some of the most important lipids in both plants and animals. The combination of inositol with choline is quite important in attaining a healthy mind and body. These nutrients must be present for the proper functioning of your brain.
Functions of Choline/ Inositol:
Choline is utilized in the production of accetylcholine, a chemical that conveys messages between the nerves and muscles, and is thought to improve memory and mood. Choline also helps to purify the system by enabling the liver to eliminate toxins more effectively. Inositol plays a very important role in cell membranes as to its appropriate formation. Inositol is indispensable to phospholipids synthesis, being an integral part of each and every cell membrane in the body. The usefulness of inositol is demonstrated by its ability to control the levels of estrogen and blood cholesterol and it is also responsible in preventing breast lumps and constipation. Choline and inositol help to form lecithin, which helps to break fats into smaller particles that can be used in the body and controls cholesterol build-up. These compounds also help to maintain cell membranes and are essential in nourishing brain cells.
Symptoms of Choline/ Inositol Deficiency:
Choline deficiency may lead to infertility, bone abnormalities, hypertension, impaired kidney function, and decreased hematopoiesis. Deficiencies of inositol may cause hepatic lipidosis, alopecia, enlarged spleen and liver, as well as mental development abnormalities.
