The principle behind an eye bath is very simple: The idea is to create a formula that reproduces the characteristics of our own tear to act just as the natural tear would, by cleaning and restoring the surface of the eye.
Acuaiss Eye Bath is a product that mimics the composition of the tear film to perfection. It contains a saline solution and hyaluronic acid to help clean and hydrate in one simple step.
● The saline solution simulates the composition of the natural tear film, meaning it behaves like a secretion from the tear duct, washing away dust and cosmetics to clean the surface of the eye. To avoid any sense of discomfort, the composition and tonicity of the formula must be fully compatible with the tear film, which is pH-neutral and has an osmolarity of 300. Acuaiss Eye Bath has a pH of 7.3 and an osmolarity of around 300.
● The power of hyaluronic acid to retain water and join the tear film to the corneal epithelium stabilizes the tear, helping to restore the eye to its natural balance. Sodium hyaluronate or hyaluronic acid has excellent water retention capacity compared to other humectant agents, especially in low humidity conditions (dry environments). And since it is biocompatible, it does not cause rejection.
